Leave room for movement.
Percussion, repetition and improvisation sit at the heart of Max’s practice. Small changes in timing, texture and emphasis can give a pattern a new direction.

An independent space for electronic music, creative instruments and the exchange of ideas.

For Max Tebbert, rhythm is a physical language. The Karlsruhe-born producer, sound artist and drummer first encountered it in an African drumming group at the age of five. Jazz and Latin American percussion followed, shaping an instinct for improvisation that continues to guide his electronic work.
A move to Hamburg opened another way of making music. Ableton, analogue instruments and modular synthesis became an extension of that early curiosity: different ways to follow an idea through sound. Today, his music moves between hypnotic percussion, driving grooves and atmospheric depth, with feeling and intuition at the centre of the process.
A sound does not need to know where it belongs when it is made. Max often records instruments without a beat, building a personal archive of textures to revisit, reshape and hear in a different light. Recordings of wind, water and woodland bring traces of the outside world into that process, lending electronic structures a quiet sense of place.
This approach values attention over expectation: allowing a piece to find its own direction, trusting its energy and leaving room for the unexpected. Repetition becomes a space for small changes, and small changes become movement.
SUBTRX carries that outlook beyond one artist. It brings together releases, creative devices and encounters on the dance floor, connecting people through a shared interest in sound rather than a single prescribed formula.
New collaborations, Max for Live instruments and effects, and Studio Meter Pro will extend this world. Alongside them, mastering and personal production sessions create space to exchange ideas and help other artists develop their own voice.
